It’s through
generosity —
a relentless
and reckless
kindness —
that we become
something more;
never by money
or influence,
for
these things
are impotent
in matters
of character.
Faith, Health, and Other Musings
May our minds flourish with creation, and may our hands never deny its expression.
It’s through
generosity —
a relentless
and reckless
kindness —
that we become
something more;
never by money
or influence,
for
these things
are impotent
in matters
of character.
It is
often
only through
the lens of art
that we can
understand the world.
On a day
celebrating second life,
I am thankful
for the rebirth
in Christ,
that, against all odds,
my leaves again
turn green.
How ridiculous
is it
for us
to expect
that others be like us
when even we
are not like ourselves
of even a year past?
My mind
tells to my heart:
“There is nothing left
to draft,
for it’s all been written.”
But, my heart laughs,
“Come to me
when you think
a thought
that hasn’t already
been conceived.”
It’s illness
isn’t it
that whispers
to us
that which we would forget:
you were
never in control.
As long as
I move —
even if backward —
I am satisfied
to not be
stagnant.
But, a house changes —
on the good days,
you notice
the sun streaming through the curtains.
And, on the bad,
you hear the darkened corners
calling to you.
We dismiss obsession as a negative — as a symptom of a broken mind. But obsession is a life-force that knows what it needs and pursues it without relent. It is the spirit within us that imagines an empire and stops at nothing before building it into grandeur. For what great things were built with half-heartedness or upon lukewarm pillars? Obsession is the spirit of empire.
Forgiveness
isn’t overlooking
transgressions;
it’s seeing them
in the their
fullest, most potent
essence,
and choosing
to reconcile anyway.
