Lover’s Field

Every morning,

I push out

my love for you,

push it beyond my reach,

until I can no longer feel it.

Every night,

I see it standing in the field

hear it coming through the cracks,

closing in for another

suffocated sleep.

On Longing

Every night my soul leaves,
and every morning, it crawls back, exhausted.
One night I followed it
down old paths
past familiar trees
and, all at once,
I uncovered to where my soul
as I joined my soul
in watching you.
