Let’s collaborate
in celebrating
the soul of Thanksgiving
by giving
even
— and especially —
when the thanks
doesn’t come.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Faith, Health, and Other Musings
May our minds flourish with creation, and may our hands never deny its expression.
Let’s collaborate
in celebrating
the soul of Thanksgiving
by giving
even
— and especially —
when the thanks
doesn’t come.
Happy Thanksgiving.
It is difficult to determine
whether
having a day set aside for gratitude
is a cause for celebration
or for shame.
We don’t ascribe days to
breathing
or
waking
or
thinking
because we do those things, always.
What a thorough humiliation
that we cannot say the same
for thankfulness.
Holidays are for many burdened souls
a “hollow daze,”
as the bright lights,
garish decorations,
and leviathan feasts
make them to recall
again
the empty chairs
and quiet corners.
(May you encounter an unanticipated peace this week.)
As the pieces of your heart
gather around your feast,
may your food be gratitude
and your words be peace.
A day of reflection
for the treasures undeserved,
may your gratefulness overflow,
full and unreserved.
